WASHINGTON – Congressman Lee Terry(R-NE) made the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the five-year farm bill conference report by a vote of 251-166:

“Even though this bill is not perfect, it’s needed and I’m confident this legislation will serve Nebraska farmers well.

“My main concern with the farm bill was making meaningful reforms to SNAP so that it serves those who really need it without the rampant waste, fraud, and abuse that currently plagues the system.

“I also strongly support the establishment of a 10-state pilot program to empower states to engage able-bodied adults in mandatory work programs.  This is a common sense reform and it’s my hope Nebraska chooses to participate in this pilot.”
